Book Review: Confession series

Hey Guys,

Its been a hot minute, i have been busy with my work i just rounded up the worlds most annoying assay Nitric oxide antioxidant assay. I swear to all the sweet potatoes in the world i was almost at my wits end with this one. But thank Jah I made it through! And now this post is up because yours truly is procrastinating with statistics (don’t judge me!).

Tittle: Confession series, Book 1: Robbie, Book 2: Julien , Book 3: Priest Book 4 : The Princess, The prick & The priest

Author: Ella Frank

Genre :M/M/M, Romance

Rating: 4.9 ‘hot’ stars

Reader Age: Definitely 18+

I highly recommend reading the series in order because the stories are linked.

Julien Thornton  and Joel Priest are a married couple, they love each other but they need a balance in their relationship. Enter Robbie the princess of their dreams with his sassy mouth and beautiful heart, Robbie is just recovering after a breakup that left him doubting himself. Julien and Priest have baggage from their past, some of them life threatening but can Robbie heal their hearts before it is too late?

Ella Frank created the perfect balance for a polygamous relationship.

The problems i usually have when reading poly-relationship books is that most of the time they are not realistic and there is no balance. M/M/M books are difficult to pull off because of this and when you find a book that is able to bring both balance and a bit of reality into the story, it turns out to be a gem. The sex scenes were SIZZLING dear potatoes you might need to drink water so that you wouldn’t choke ( especially that scene in book two, oh wait you’ll just have to read it to find out). The dialogues are witty especially Robbie’s comebacks with Priest.

This series is a gem, the characters are perfect for each other.

Robbie Bianchi is the muthafreaking princess of the world, he is fun to be around and caring. If color had a personification Robbie fits that description well, he brightens up the room were ever he goes and definitely brightens up Julien and Priest’s life. He brings out their protective sides but do not be fooled, this princess would cut you if need be.

Reading the stories i can see why Robbie was perfect, he is like a soothing balm for Julien and Priest, their ego’s are huge  and their wounds were deep.

Julien is a world famous french chef , he got his nickname ‘the prick’ on a cooking show ( to be honest the other contestant was being a dick). Julien blames himself that happened in the past and it hunts him everyday. Julien loves his husband and is clearly devoted to him, in fact it is because of Priest that he turns his life around for the best. Robbie was able to help Julien simmer down his ego to just the right level were it wouldn’t cause problems in their relationship.

Joel Priest, the larger than life lawyer. Priest is running from a traumatic past, one he tries to protect his lovers from. He is a force to be reckoned with and no one messes with his men while he’s around. I like the way Robbie faces up to Priest, he was not afraid to call out is bullshit even though Priest is scary ( the good kind of scary). Despite his love of control Priest never used it against his lovers, he never made them feel less than they were, he uplifted and protected them.

He protec

Book 1-3 was them working out their relationship and book 4 is the nice tied-up happy ending bow.

I missed them as soon as i finished the last book.

I recommend this series if you love love and witty dialogues and super smexy scenes you won’t regret it.

Life Nugget #1

Hey guys,

Its November and we are officially one month from 2018 ending. This year has been a great learning experience for me, i discovered a lot of things about myself and i have been having a good bonding session with friends and family. I started to allow myself to enjoy being at home, i started to allow myself to invest in my country.

One of the things i pray for daily is for me to live and what i mean by that is simple. I want my life to be filled with color, i don’t want to run away and hide anymore i want to experience every thing.

The mistake i made before coming back home was to believe what people told me about my country and about how life works. i realized people experience things what maybe shitty for one person might be heaven for the next. That’s exactly what happened for me i found a mini heaven in a place that is a raging hell ( well you get the point just turn on the news).

One of my favorite quotes is by Hunter S. Thompson

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride”-Hunter S. Thompson

I am not making any new years resolution next year because i think they hold me back ,i put so much pressure on myself to complete them and then end up giving up before March. Instead i will continue to improve myself as i started doing this year.

So you beautiful human/unicorn being reading this my challenge for you for the remaining part of this year and next year is simple..LIVE

Go outside ( i know the world is a scary place) and do stuff, run that marathon, ask that human ( or unicorn) out and if you get rejected hey there’s plenty unicorns in the sky. Look at your body and feel ya self (Beyonce style people this blog is semi PG).

Be Brave…Live don’t Just Exist

One step at a time

Hey guys,

I am on my journey to healing and so far i am happy with the improvements i have made but i still need to do a lot more.  Right now i am learning to pace myself and not expect results to happened overnight.

This past weekend i realized that its easy to say you have moved past a problem/stage/person until you meet it again. I have mentioned before i hated secondary school easily the worst part of my life some of the things that happened to me  then still affect my grown ass now.

Now i met people from my school that i was hoping not to see for a while ( meaning until i’m rich and famous and i have a billion dollars in my account). Well lets say i was triggered and i almost had a panic attack at the mall.  Although my friend i was with at that time told me i would be fine i didn’t really take in anything she was saying. As i got home i went straight to bed and slept. I woke up the next morning, my brain was ready to pick up from were i stopped the previous day. I looked into a mirror and said positive things to myself.

I cannot go back to that bubble, i destroyed it the day i said i wanted to move forward. I owe no one any explanation  i am a working progress i will get to the stage were i am 100% okay one day. As soon as i said those words to myself in the mirror i felt better a whole lot better.

So here’s my little encouragement to you,

keep going you are doing your best, you have come so far you cannot give up now you’ve got this. One step at a time

Independence Day

Hey guys,

Today is not a book post, its a rant. So if you do not want to read this i understand.

I am Nigerian, my country celebrated it’s 58th  Independence day on Monday October the 1st.  Let me quickly say that i am a proud Nigerian  but at the same time i will tell you my eyes are wide open and i am not blind to the plight my country suffers from.

We say we are free here but are we really? Recently there have been killings in Jos families being murdered but there is no outcry in this country or on BBC or CNN. It’s almost like it has become a normal thing to happen. We are one of the richest countries in Africa but simultaneously one with the highest poverty rate.

Let’s not talk about the homophobia that is deeply rooted in this country, we use religion to cover up any and everything. They have forgotten God and they follow doctrines created by man ( the irony of it all).  You have people openly saying they will kill their children if they find out they are gay? But then proceed to buy Marc Jacobs and brag about it.

Elections are always bloody, its a time were we all have to be cautious, ”don’t go outside so you don’t get kidnapped” ” don’t travel on this road because of this”  and so many reasons to be scared.  You want to know why people in this place don’t vote its simple our votes don’t count. Whats the point of voting when you can get killed while voting, why vote when you already know who is going to be ”fixed”. Democracy? Ha! the great Fela Kuti said, we have demonstration of craze.

And so let me say i hate hope, but i have to have it. Why do i torture myself you ask, i can up my fluffy bottom  and get out of here and leave this place to crash and burn to the ground.

But because of Muthafluffing hope i came back, because of hope i want to stay and build. Make no mistake i do not build for this current people, i build for the future ones that they may come into a peaceful country and not be afraid to express themselves. That they would be able to vote in peace and travel every inch of this country without being afraid. So that they would know that their voices are heard and they are important too. That god loves them matter how they are.

I pray for my country, i pray that her citizens become honest with themselves. I pray that her leaders would think about the people they are called to serve. I pray that the haze of religion would be removed and that true spirituality and oneness with god will exist.

So happy? Independence day Nigeria…at 58 God help us all.

Good reads Blurb:

Built on the bones of an ancient city, modern-day Everstrand is where master mage, Rowan, has set up his enchantment shop. When not hanging out with his werewolf best friend, Caleb, or studying, he dabbles in herbology and the controversial practice of blood magic. A prodigy who has already earned two masters, Rowan’s bound and determined to reach the distinction of grandmaster, a mage who obtains a masters in all five Schools of Magic.

Shaw works for the Inquisition, the organization charged with policing the magical races collectively known as magicae. Recently, it has come under scrutiny as magicae begin to disappear and reports of violence increase. With secrets of his own on the line, Shaw is willing to risk everything to find out just what is going on behind all the locked doors.

When Rowan and Shaw are entangled in each other’s worlds, it becomes evident that their hearts are as much at risk as their lives. They must find the truth and stop a conspiracy before it’s too late.

The review

This is a delightful beginning to the inquisition trilogy. Casey Wolfe has created a beautiful world with lovely characters.

In the beginning we are introduced to Rowan a nerd on his way to become become a grand master mage. His best friend/ live in dog Caleb 🐺 is a lovable werewolf who is ultra protective of Rowan and Shaw the hot stuff inquisitor.

Rowan and Caleb become friends with Shaw and thus begins an adventure to save lives.

The world Casey created is beautiful, from afar Everstrand  looks like an ideal place but when you get close you discover it’s a lot darker than you think ahem *coughs*  ‘Murica. There’s a scene where Caleb and Rowan are discussing about a political candidate and i wrote down, ”okay this scene reminds me of orange juice in the white house”

The major theme of the book was family Caleb, Rowan and Shaw bonded on different levels. You’ll get a warm fuzzy feeling when you read how the characters interact, i know Rowan is the star of the show in this book but Caleb has a special place in my heart.

One final thing i appreciated was the writing style let me explain. There were scenes were you would hold your breathe and expect something bad to happen but it didn’t why did i appreciate this? She did not try to force an unnecessary plot twist but by my unicorn bottom when the twist happened i screamed

I recommend this book if you love that friendship/family bond.

As always spread rainbows,

Ghosts, bullies, first love: it’s a lot to deal with when you’re just trying to survive senior year

The Review

Trigger warning: Bullying

The story is a bittersweet one, Nate has suffered a lot because of his ability, ostracized in school by an popular evil  bitch and there’s strain in his family. James is the new kid with his own issues but he is a ray of sunlight in our protagonists life, you will love him.

The author balanced humor and tragedy perfectly, there were funny scenes and then there were scenes where you just wanted to hug Nate. His Aunt protected him , i appreciated that she did not baby him and always gave him the truth when needed; she also would not hesitate to smack a bitch that hurts her nephew.

His Nana was just adorable( she’s a ghost haunting their home), i loved the way she still commanded respect even though she was dead. I loved James for taking time to know Nate and stand up for him even though he had problems of his own, he was a good friend  ( until the time he fucked up).

The book was well written with characters you would recognize in your typical high school setting, straight to the point and easy to understand. I gave the book four stars because i thought it was a cute story, the last chapter had me in my feelings tho( when a particular character came back i was like, really bitch? Really).

I recommend this book if you are looking for a short m/m read.

Pride Books wrap Up

I have given you the LGBT webtoons i am subscribed to in my last  CLICK THIS TO GET TO THAT POST.  I was looking for a good place to start because i always read m/m books and i wanted something more diverse, i consulted the oracles Bi Bookish babe, Smiling Jay , readable life and Aurora libralis  blogs and they have contributed to my my ever growing TBR list. I picked up a fair number of books from each blog and my ambition was to read something ‘different’ ( in quotation marks because my royal bottom went back to m/m at the end) i mean i tried.

So here’s what i read for pride month , i recommend them to you because they were really interesting and i think you should read them too. Also check out the lovely blogs i listed too.

Noah can’t even and Noah Could Never by Simon James Green

If you are ready for a cringe fest galore and laugh out loud comedy i recommend this duology. Follow Noah’s adventures with his best mate Harry and his whole high school.

Its not like its a secret by Misa Sugiura

The main character Sana Kiyohara is not out to her parents and her friends, she suspects her father is cheating, she has a huge crush on Jamie. But her friends don’t like Jamie’s friends and vice versa. How does Sana survive this?

I listened to this book and it made it come alive. There’s cultural and race issues addressed in this book, it’s really cute but there’s this one part of the book where i was like SHUT UP SANA PLEASE. If you read this book you would get there and you would hide under a blanket just like i did.

The Quarterback by Mackenzie Blair

I listened to this and i wrote a review of it before. Its about a collegde football star Matt who is in the closet falling in love with the ‘punk’ kid Trevor.  The end is happy and fluffy.

A  Quick Guide To They/Them pronouns By Archie Bongiovanni and Tristan Jimerson

A guide showing how to use They/them pronouns, its really useful i wrote a review of it here you can check it out also. Its a quick comic explaining how to use these pronouns and the people that use them.

Peter Darling by Austin Chant

A retelling of Peter Pan.

Wendy is a Trans Male known as Peter Pan, he goes back to Neverland after ten years to fight with Captain Hook. He discovers a lot about himself, Hook and the truth about the lost boys.

And finally i read the O. G

simon vs

Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens agenda By Becky Albertalli

I have had this book on my TBR for ages, i finally read it and my heart was filled with so much fluff.
