We all have experienced this, you are reading an interesting book the plot thickens and there’s two pages left and then you find yourself praying dear lordt please let it end well…only for you to end up with the dreaded phrase

Life Nugget #1

Hey guys,

Its November and we are officially one month from 2018 ending. This year has been a great learning experience for me, i discovered a lot of things about myself and i have been having a good bonding session with friends and family. I started to allow myself to enjoy being at home, i started to allow myself to invest in my country.

One of the things i pray for daily is for me to live and what i mean by that is simple. I want my life to be filled with color, i don’t want to run away and hide anymore i want to experience every thing.

The mistake i made before coming back home was to believe what people told me about my country and about how life works. i realized people experience things what maybe shitty for one person might be heaven for the next. That’s exactly what happened for me i found a mini heaven in a place that is a raging hell ( well you get the point just turn on the news).

One of my favorite quotes is by Hunter S. Thompson

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride”-Hunter S. Thompson

I am not making any new years resolution next year because i think they hold me back ,i put so much pressure on myself to complete them and then end up giving up before March. Instead i will continue to improve myself as i started doing this year.

So you beautiful human/unicorn being reading this my challenge for you for the remaining part of this year and next year is simple..LIVE

Go outside ( i know the world is a scary place) and do stuff, run that marathon, ask that human ( or unicorn) out and if you get rejected hey there’s plenty unicorns in the sky. Look at your body and feel ya self (Beyonce style people this blog is semi PG).

Be Brave…Live don’t Just Exist

Discussion: Book Influence

Hey guys,

Have you ever said this, ”it was the book that made me do it”.

I definitely have, i realized that the kind of books i read really influence me for that whole period of time.  Does the character have a tattoo? Guess who wants one.

Okay so this is the one that really got me, i hate eating cereals  i’d rather go hungry instead.  But for some reason i started craving one when i was reading a book and the MC was eating cereal. After the book i went back to hating cereal…absolutely weird

Does this happen to you?  Leave some character quirks you adapt when reading books in the comments below.

Horror Books

Hey you beautiful Rainbowland citizens,

I am not a horror movie fan, whats the reason you may ask? Gather round let me tell you of a couple of stories why this unicorn cannot watch horror movies.

  1. On my 11th birthday, i asked my dear brothers for a BARBIE doll and i was excited i would finally have an original barbie doll. so when my parents opened the box and i saw fucking CHUCKY in his bloody glory holding a knife, i screamed and then ran out of the room. Ah siblings, aren’t they just lovely?
  2. now this one was my fault. For some freaking reason when i was 14, i was alone in the house and i thought it would be a very good idea to watch not one but TWO horror movies, genius right (for someone who is scared of her own shadow). Oh and one of the movies was SILENT HILL you know the one with bodies stripped of their skin yep that one. Now power outage is common in my country (it’s called NEPA) and so it happened, there was no light and it was pitch black. I called my best friend and this muthafluffer hung up on me ( i was speaking gibberish to be fair tho). And then…..the gate opened and i was shitting my pants thinking the pyramid man was going to get me. It was just my uncle coming to give me the ice cream he promised…and then i left the light on in my room for a long time.

Now that we know i do not like horror movies let me recommend some lovely horror books ( i know right !! The irony)

  • As always on my list, they were my first horror book series and among the first set of books i got from Waterstones. The saga of Darren Shan its not to scary ( i say that because i think i imagined the bad guys as cashews..totally random i know)
  • Boy meets ghost, ghost is stabby what more for the perfect romance. Anna dressed in blood by Kendare Blake.

  • The next one is a comic on Tapas, Black pupil. A reporter gains the power to see otherworldly beings after a mysterious black liquid pops into her eye. I suggest not eating when reading this one.
  • And finally they say the apple does not fall far from the tree, and i say genetics fam muthafluffing genetics. Allow me to introduce to you Locke & key by Joe Hill son of the Stephen King. Yes, that means as you read this comic hold a cross near by it will do you good.

Ans so rainbow peeps i have completed my blogger duty of bringing you horror books, ranging from mild to WTF. I  sincerely wish you good luck with these books.

Book Review: She Dreams Of Fire

she dreams

Title: She Dreams of Fire ( Hammer of the witches #1)

Author: M.K Gibson

Genre: Supernatural, fantasy

Ratings: 5 ” so many questions i’m waiting on the next one” stars

Publisher: Amber Cove publishing

publication date: May 3rd, 2018

Quick Summary:

Agatha ‘Aggy’ Grae looses her mom in a fire. She cuts herself, looses a lot of blood and then receives the blood of a witch that changes her life forever. Aggy would have to find strength to face her past and fight to protect the ones she loves before the coven comes for them.

The review

HOLY  TOASTED UNICORN HORN !!!  is what you’ll say when you get to the end of this book. At the time of drafting this blog its 2 am and i’m sitting here contemplating the meaning of life because author-san has left me speechless again ( Click here for previous book). The Journey through this book was a freaking roller coaster of emotions be prepared when you read it.  Your heart would break and then just as its patching itself up again it just shatters into a million pieces ( but it sweet torture i promise).

I loved the writing, everything flows perfectly, the author did not reveal too much of the characters background at the beginning and that made me just itchy to know more. When the background stories were revealed it was just at the right time when needed.  The story kept me on my toes i did not know when something would pop out and make me go what the fluff. And the music playlist Aggy was listening to was perfect, i found myself smiling when i saw lzzy Hale, Maria Brink (Goddess) and Taylor Momsen. I mean a character that rocks out like me..i love.

I am trying my best to make this post spoiler free, so i cannot get into too much detail on the characters but what i will say is the characters are well developed. When put into tough situations they delivered, sometimes shocking( hidden powers and such) and sometimes betrayal( there’s a wtf moment).

I can however say that Ji and Al-Miraj are my favorite, they love and support Aggy through everything. Oh Miraj is a talking rabbit whats not to love!!Marcus is a morally gray character and he has PTSD from saving his friends during war. There’s something twisted inside of him, i would love to see how this plays out in the next book.

Final verdict

Yes i do recommend you to pick up this book, it’s a perfect read for Halloween ( and honestly just any day you feel like you need a badass heroine and dope friends). It has all the twists and turns to keep you guessing. You’ll laugh, cry and have a good scare.

One step at a time

Hey guys,

I am on my journey to healing and so far i am happy with the improvements i have made but i still need to do a lot more.  Right now i am learning to pace myself and not expect results to happened overnight.

This past weekend i realized that its easy to say you have moved past a problem/stage/person until you meet it again. I have mentioned before i hated secondary school easily the worst part of my life some of the things that happened to me  then still affect my grown ass now.

Now i met people from my school that i was hoping not to see for a while ( meaning until i’m rich and famous and i have a billion dollars in my account). Well lets say i was triggered and i almost had a panic attack at the mall.  Although my friend i was with at that time told me i would be fine i didn’t really take in anything she was saying. As i got home i went straight to bed and slept. I woke up the next morning, my brain was ready to pick up from were i stopped the previous day. I looked into a mirror and said positive things to myself.

I cannot go back to that bubble, i destroyed it the day i said i wanted to move forward. I owe no one any explanation  i am a working progress i will get to the stage were i am 100% okay one day. As soon as i said those words to myself in the mirror i felt better a whole lot better.

So here’s my little encouragement to you,

keep going you are doing your best, you have come so far you cannot give up now you’ve got this. One step at a time

Independence Day

Hey guys,

Today is not a book post, its a rant. So if you do not want to read this i understand.

I am Nigerian, my country celebrated it’s 58th  Independence day on Monday October the 1st.  Let me quickly say that i am a proud Nigerian  but at the same time i will tell you my eyes are wide open and i am not blind to the plight my country suffers from.

We say we are free here but are we really? Recently there have been killings in Jos families being murdered but there is no outcry in this country or on BBC or CNN. It’s almost like it has become a normal thing to happen. We are one of the richest countries in Africa but simultaneously one with the highest poverty rate.

Let’s not talk about the homophobia that is deeply rooted in this country, we use religion to cover up any and everything. They have forgotten God and they follow doctrines created by man ( the irony of it all).  You have people openly saying they will kill their children if they find out they are gay? But then proceed to buy Marc Jacobs and brag about it.

Elections are always bloody, its a time were we all have to be cautious, ”don’t go outside so you don’t get kidnapped” ” don’t travel on this road because of this”  and so many reasons to be scared.  You want to know why people in this place don’t vote its simple our votes don’t count. Whats the point of voting when you can get killed while voting, why vote when you already know who is going to be ”fixed”. Democracy? Ha!..as the great Fela Kuti said, we have demonstration of craze.

And so let me say i hate hope, but i have to have it. Why do i torture myself you ask, i can up my fluffy bottom  and get out of here and leave this place to crash and burn to the ground.

But because of Muthafluffing hope i came back, because of hope i want to stay and build. Make no mistake i do not build for this current people, i build for the future ones that they may come into a peaceful country and not be afraid to express themselves. That they would be able to vote in peace and travel every inch of this country without being afraid. So that they would know that their voices are heard and they are important too. That god loves them matter how they are.

I pray for my country, i pray that her citizens become honest with themselves. I pray that her leaders would think about the people they are called to serve. I pray that the haze of religion would be removed and that true spirituality and oneness with god will exist.

So happy? Independence day Nigeria…at 58 God help us all.
