And we are back to square one

I feel weird and i am going to try my best to describe it.

I want to read but i can’t seem to pick up a book, i had to force myself to write this so that i can process my head.

maybe i am too much in my feelings?

Lately i have been thinking about my blog and its like i don’t enjoy writing anymore which is bad because i don’t want to give this up. I started this blog because of my love for books. And now i just feel like its absolutely generic, i even questioned if i really love reading? I know!! I just feel like crap because i set out to do this and now it seems like i am giving up on it.

maybe i put to much pressure on myself?

Look i know i may not have the best review style out here and sometimes when i read my past posts i’m convinced my evil Unicorn wrote it.

At this time i would say i am taking a break from my blog but i don’t even know what i am taking a break for when i have not written as much as i would like to.

Or maybe i’m not as creative as i thought i was?

I am still on the hunt for a professional logo and at one point i was happy to get one, i looked around for a professional one but then the price had me thinking twice. And don’t get me wrong i would love to pay the artist their full money because i looked through their portfolio and i saw the awesomeness they created. But i don’t have any money and this makes me angry at myself a lot. the fact that i am a 23 year old adult living in my parents house and i haven’t achieved anything. I don’t like asking my parents for money because the have done enough for me and right now they just need to plan their retirement funds. I am working at a place that absolutely demotivates me and i cannot leave until my one year service  is over.

I feel like picking my skin, i don’t know why but that’s just some weird state i am in right now.

At one point it felt like everything was coming together, i’m working on my plans and being productive and shit. but now its all coming apart, i have that feeling of i am not doing enough to get were i want to.

I just needed to get that out of my chest. and process whats going on in my head.

As always spread rainbows, even when it seems dark i promise i’m trying to do that here.

Excerpt:

“So you just kissed me because you wanted to.” I speak on a breath.
“Very good. You’re perceptive. Intuitive.”
I realize he’s teasing me in that low, terribly rumbly voice and I wish he would smile at me.
He takes my hand and fingers my palm with his thumb as he leads me to our suite.
I’m sizzling where he touches me, nervously prying my hand free when he leads me into the biggest, most spectacular two-bedroom penthouse suite I’ve ever seen. Not that I’d seen one before in person, only movies.
There’s a kitchen area, and windows from floor to ceiling. A living room, a pool table, gold brass chandeliers, a brown-and-beige-patterned carpet, dark woods, Italian leathers. Gorgeous! I could move in here.
Now I see the appeal but won’t admit as much.
Thinking of our bet, I pay attention to the art on the walls. It’s expensive. I can tell by the numbered print and the signature. Painters with indecipherable and artistic signatures are often the artists to watch. It’s like they know from the moment they paint their first work that they’re on to something big, something that will distinguish their work from all others.
I wish Cullen loved art as much as I do. Maybe I could drag him away from the tables to a local gallery.
“Wow. I could just live he—” I spin around and bump into his big warm body, and he bends his head and kisses my words right out of me.
Kisses me stupid. Kisses my toes curled. Kisses my brain blank. Kisses my heart crazy.

7 win at any cost

The review

Please note that you can definitely read this book on its own but to be part of the family i recommend starting from the first book Man whore , there are smexy characters waiting for you.

So i actually thought that manwhore series was going to end with Callan, but nope aunty Katy had Cullen Carmichael to wake up my hunger for bootiful people.

Wynn  has just broken up with her long-time boyfriend and she’s on a date when she meets hot, broody smexy Cullen the poker player nicknamed playboy . They make a bet and then the sexual tension of a life time begins.

If you are familiar with Katy’s writing you know you are in for a ride and by the time you finish the book you’ll be begging Jah for a Cullen Carmichael to show up at your door.

Now if you are not familiar with Katy’s writing, grab some popcorn and get comfy if you have a boyfriend throw him out the window because when you finish the book you’ll have higher standards ( *okay wait don’t do that *).

Wynn is Rachel, Lizzy and Gina’s best friend ( read Manwhore 1-4 to understand). she’s a serial dater because she is looking for that happy ever after just like her parents have but princess just keeps meeting heartbreak and the last one was just way too painful.

I liked the new side of Wynn in this book, when she was with the girls in the other books i thought she was this happy, strong woman that had everything going well for her but we get to see a vulnerable Wynn hereand i did enjoy that. She brings out the best in Cullen and they compliment each other, she shows her playful and sensual side with him.

Now to the most important part of this book…my future boyfriend *ahem* Cullen Carmichael. Ermm excuse me God and all the angels in heaven, evolution and everything else on earth  WHERE THE HELL IS MY CULLEN CARMICHAEL? Okay i’m done screaming.

Lets paint a picture. He’s a dark broody son of a unicorn, he’s a well known playboy, he rich, he’s an alpha and he fwiiiinee.

Cullen is a professional poker player, he has his own superstitions for Wyning a game ( see what i did there). He has his doubt about women because he’s been burnt in the past but then he see’s the red angel Wynn and he’s about to start thinking of happy ever.

The whole gang is present in this book, we get a glimpse of Rachel and Malcolm’s baby, Tahoe and Callan smitten with their girls and now Wynn’s joining them.

I was all smiles from the beginning of the book till the end and of course i did not want it to end. I loved the writing, Cullen had his POV and i lived for it. Katy’s writing is easy to follow, you will fall in love with the characters and they will forever have a place in your heart.

So why am i trying to convince you to read this book, simple: YOU NEED CULLEN and WYNN IN YOUR LIFE. I’ll right here when you come back to thank me.

Good reads Blurb:

Built on the bones of an ancient city, modern-day Everstrand is where master mage, Rowan, has set up his enchantment shop. When not hanging out with his werewolf best friend, Caleb, or studying, he dabbles in herbology and the controversial practice of blood magic. A prodigy who has already earned two masters, Rowan’s bound and determined to reach the distinction of grandmaster, a mage who obtains a masters in all five Schools of Magic.

Shaw works for the Inquisition, the organization charged with policing the magical races collectively known as magicae. Recently, it has come under scrutiny as magicae begin to disappear and reports of violence increase. With secrets of his own on the line, Shaw is willing to risk everything to find out just what is going on behind all the locked doors.

When Rowan and Shaw are entangled in each other’s worlds, it becomes evident that their hearts are as much at risk as their lives. They must find the truth and stop a conspiracy before it’s too late.

The review

This is a delightful beginning to the inquisition trilogy. Casey Wolfe has created a beautiful world with lovely characters.

In the beginning we are introduced to Rowan a nerd on his way to become become a grand master mage. His best friend/ live in dog Caleb 🐺 is a lovable werewolf who is ultra protective of Rowan and Shaw the hot stuff inquisitor.

Rowan and Caleb become friends with Shaw and thus begins an adventure to save lives.

The world Casey created is beautiful, from afar Everstrand  looks like an ideal place but when you get close you discover it’s a lot darker than you think ahem *coughs*  ‘Murica. There’s a scene where Caleb and Rowan are discussing about a political candidate and i wrote down, ”okay this scene reminds me of orange juice in the white house”

The major theme of the book was family Caleb, Rowan and Shaw bonded on different levels. You’ll get a warm fuzzy feeling when you read how the characters interact, i know Rowan is the star of the show in this book but Caleb has a special place in my heart.

One final thing i appreciated was the writing style let me explain. There were scenes were you would hold your breathe and expect something bad to happen but it didn’t why did i appreciate this? She did not try to force an unnecessary plot twist but by my unicorn bottom when the twist happened i screamed

I recommend this book if you love that friendship/family bond.

Anxiety

Yesterday i woke up anxious.

Now i would normally write to calm myself down, but there was no coming down from it. I don’t know what caused it but throughout the day i felt out of place, in my house and in my head.

I thought i needed a good cry but then nothing came out of my eyes. Even as i write this i am still trying to figure out whats wrong. Maybe i will find out once the day is over.

Maybe its a combination of things i have been worrying about

  • my faith i’m a Christian, these days i find myself questioning a lot of things
  • I still stay in my parents house and i feel like a failure, i feel like i should be doing something more but i don’t know what ”more” is
  • my sexuality

I think about these things often but not to the degree that i wake up with my heart beating out of my chest and short breaths.

I know i should talk to someone but if you’ve read my earlier posts  you will know that i can’t really talk to anyone around me about this, that’s why i write.

This sucks, big time.

I feel like my brain is saying this is payback for being too happy. I haven’t felt like this in a while, i thought everything was fine. Now its like going back to square one and i hate that route.

I don’t know how to make it stop, that’s the part that irks me the most. I wish there was an off button somewhere.

I hope it gets better tho. because honestly.

 I’m tired

Unicorn reviews: Hasib & The Serpent Queen

Title: A tale of a Thousand and One Nights:
Hasib & the Queen Of Serpents
Author: David B.
Genre:Graphic Novel, Fantasy,folktales
Reader age: 18+
Rating: 4 stars
Publisher: NBM Publishing

Blurb from GR:Heir to the wise Daniel, Hâsib is a young woodcutter promised to a great future. When his greedy companions abandon him in the middle of the forest, he meets the Queen of Serpents. She then tells her story, a fabulous adventure filled with gods and demons, princes and prophets. From Kabul to Cairo, journeys intertwine with intrigues and spiritual quests while the fabulous nights follow one another. An enchanting and intricately designed interpretation of the story of Hâsib Karîm ad-Dîm, through which David B. opens for us the gates of the Thousand and One Nights

I received this ARC from Netgalley all opinions are my own.

In this story we meet Hasib who has just been betrayed by his co workers, he is trapped in a cave and perchance meets a scorpion that leads him to the serpent queen.

The adventure begins

Although this book is a folktale, from the first page i was sure this book was not intended for a younger audience its a bit graphic.

The story is interesting, right from the first page the story grips you. If you are familiar with the one thousand and one nights you would know that this tale is narrated by Scheherazade  ( your girl doesn’t want to get offed). It’s a tale within a tale within a tale, in that order until you get to the end when all the characters you thought were gone jump back to life ( i mean if i had nine- lives i would  do that too).

Now the art style is absolutely gorgeous ( i found my self thinking this defies logic and the laws of anything on earth, but hey that’s why its fantasy), a perfect fit for the story.

If you love Arabian Nights i suggest you read this comic, you will enjoy it.
